We want to let you know about some changes coming to the EDS Wiki, as well as highlight some of the content that has been added recently. 

 

Improved Browsing

We are improving our categories to make it easier for you to find and categorize content.  Changes include:

 

·         Addition of a Widget category, with sub-categories for the location the widget will appear (detail records, results list, etc.).

·         Realignment of the Administration category to contain information for library administrators such as CustomLinks, authentication, and branding.

·         Addition of an API Demos & Samples category so users can share documentation about the EDS API.  Note: the API documentation category is still available, but contains the official API documentation and cannot be edited. 

 

 The new homepage categories are in preview mode here and will be available from the home page on Tuesday, April 2^nd.

 

Content Spotlight

We can't list them all but there has been a lot of activity on the EDS Wiki. Here are a few interesting posts and creative Widget solutions from the EBSCO team and EDS customers.

 

·         EDS & SpringShare Integration for LibAnswers w/ LibChat (floating link)

·         Display results of link resolver's inside a Detailed Record widget (or the results of any custom link)

·         Search a database via an Integrated Search (EHIS) connectors and display the top results in a widget (uses the EBSCOhost API)

·         Splice out "Edition" information for OPAC results and display on the search result list

·         Search SlideShare and show thumbnails of related presentations/slideshows

·         A customizable “Database Recommender” widget with some multilingual capabilities

·         A customizable version of a multilingual Spellchecker / Did you mean to search for?

·         Make suggestions from a Thesaurus (e.g. MeSH)

·         Evaluate the number of results and provide user guidance and adjust the “Available in Library Collection” Limiter

·         Add a “Trial” Database message and link to a User Survey
