How might a little knowledge of HTML be useful? Since I have an advanced knowledge and experience in HTML, webpage design and blogging, I'm more interested in learning about specific applications that would make an online course easy and successful for my faculty learners instead of finding out more about what is going on with newest versions of HTML and XHTML.

This blog created by Leslie Bowman (http://teachonline2008.blogspot.com/p/about.html), has a list of useful resources for those interested in starting a career in online teaching. The blog is clean, uncluttered and easy to navigate. Out of all the sites that we were given to look at for Week 2, this blog closely relates to where I want to move in my career of learning how to effectively teach online and to teach faculty how to effectively teach online.

The YouTube Video: "Teaching & Learning in a Networked World" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3kS23vOqII), was interesting, and full of great resources.  It was funny, entertaining and educational. I subscribed to his YouTube channel and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his videos in the near future.

My name is Cynthia J. Charles and I am the Interim Director/College of General Education Library Liaison, of the Will W. Alexander Library at Dillard University. I'm also the Creator/Blogger/Administrator of the Dillard University Center for Teaching, Learning and Academic Technology Blog, Facebook page, Twitter feed, Wiki and MOODLE web applications.

I was previously the Librarian and Branch Manager of the Austin Public Library, George Washington Carver Branch in Austin, Texas and Library Director at Texas College in Tyler, Texas.  I am a native New Orleanian, who lived in Texas from 1991 until I moved back home to New Orleans in 2008 to be the Assistant and eventually Interim Director of the Library at Dillard University.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies - Arts & Humanities, from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Master's in Library and Information Studies from the University of Texas in Austin.

I'm very excited about the course and really looking forward to learning alot about distance education and online teaching!
