LYRASIS Digital & Preservation Services Helps Libraries Impacted by Colorado Wildfires
High Park Fire

Colorado recently suffered one of the costliest fires in the state's history, the High Park Fire near Fort Collins. This fire and the other large wildfires that have erupted throughout western states this summer represent a huge challenge for those in charge of libraries and culturally significant collections in archives, museums and historical societies. We are glad to report that LYRASIS staff member, Leigh Grinstead - Digital Services Consultant, has a long history of working with the relevant agencies and collections in Colorado and was able to pitch in and provide help as the Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force sprung into action to protect these vital collections. Leigh was able to provide the task force with lists of information about collections that may be in danger, along with references for contacting those in charge of the collections, and additional resources about disaster preparedness and recovery.

LYRASIS Digital & Preservation Services has resources available to help in any kind of emergency, not just wildfires. Funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), LYRASIS provides preservation services and many other resources to help you protect your collections.

We provide 24/7 disaster assistance advice by phone. You can contact LYRASIS Preservation staff at 800.999.8558. Calls placed after business hours will be directed to an answering service. Please tell the operator you need to speak with someone from Preservation.

Other post-fire emergency resources are available, including:

In addition, our Disaster Resources pages include an emergency response checklist, disaster recovery resources (arranged by format and disaster type), and disaster planning and prevention information. If you have questions about how LYRASIS Digital & Preservation Services can help, please contact Alix Bentrud for more information.
